Frequently Asked Questions – Hanaru Reusable Sanitary Pads

General Questions

What are Hanaru reusable sanitary pads made of?

Hanaru pads are made from 79% recycled polyester, 20% recycled polyester elastomer, and 1% thermoplastic. The padding is 100% recycled polyester, and the backing is TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for leak protection. All materials are free from fragrances, bleach, and harsh chemicals.

Are reusable cloth pads hygienic?

Yes! When properly washed and dried, reusable cloth pads are completely hygienic. Many women find them more comfortable and less irritating than disposable pads, which often contain chemicals and synthetic materials.

How long do Hanaru pads last?

With proper care, a Hanaru reusable sanitary pad can last 2–5 years. That's hundreds of uses from a single pad — making it both an eco-friendly and cost-effective choice.

Sizing & Fit

What sizes are available?

Hanaru reusable pads are available in three sizes: Medium (M), Large (L), and Extra Large (XL). We recommend choosing based on your flow intensity and body shape. M is great for light-to-moderate flow, L for moderate-to-heavy flow, and XL for heavy flow days or overnight use.

How do I keep the pad in place?

Each Hanaru pad features snap-button wings that wrap underneath your underwear and click securely together. The wings prevent the pad from shifting or bunching throughout the day.

Care & Washing

How do I wash my Hanaru pad?

Rinse your pad in cold water as soon as possible after use to prevent staining. Then hand wash with mild soap in cold or lukewarm water. Gently wring out excess water and air dry completely before storing. Do not tumble dry, iron, or bleach.

Can I machine wash Hanaru pads?

We recommend hand washing for best results and longevity. If using a machine, use a delicate cycle with cold water in a mesh laundry bag.

How do I store used pads when out?

Carry a small wet bag (waterproof pouch) to store used pads when you're on the go. Rinse as soon as you get home. Wet bags are available separately.

Sustainability & Environmental Impact

How do reusable pads help the environment?

A single woman uses approximately 10,000–15,000 disposable pads in her lifetime. These pads take 500–800 years to decompose in landfills. By switching to Hanaru reusable pads, you can prevent hundreds of kilograms of menstrual waste from entering landfills.

What does "eco-friendly" mean for Hanaru pads?

Our pads are made from recycled polyester sourced from plastic drink bottles, giving plastic waste a second life. Each pad you use is diverted plastic from our oceans and landfills.
